Season 5 Wrap-Up

Monday, March 14, 2011

Another Season gone and past--I don't think I have to explain how crazy that is. Can you believe I've been at this for almost a year? I can't.

There's not really a lot I need to 'wrap-up' because, compared to other Seasons, I wrote pretty much everything I felt that I needed to to tie off the story. There's loose ends, such as what will happen to Kate and Gwen, what exactly happened to the vampires, but that stuff will be covered when the story continues.

Which--for those curious--the story will resume about the equivalent of "8 months" in their future. Not quite as big as the jump I made last time.

I virtually have basically *nothing* else to say, so instead, here's some random tidbits.

First, some of the screenshots from Jeb's "battle scenes" were too hilarious not to caption:

Kudos if you recognize the reference in the first one. ;)

Secondly, in order to keep this blog from collecting dust while I'm taking a break, you can expect to see:

a) the Season 4 & 5 synopses that I was too lazy to do before
b) Character Bios for all of the main characters.

I will admit, I am blatantly stealing off of Jennifer's style of Character Bio, so. I'm giving you credit for that, girl. ;) (Also giving you credit for reminding me to put an age warning back on my sidebar. I am not above admitting where I have borrowed good ideas from!)

I just feel that the "Cast List" I've been using doesn't explain as much about the main characters as I'd like to, and I end up always listing too darn many that really aren't that important. The above 6 characters are the only ones that really need elaborated on at all--although, most of you probably know them well enough to not to need to read a Bio about them.

HOWEVER. However however. Several posts into next Season a new character will be joining the official Cast of "main characters". I'm a little nervous about it because I'm not entirely sure how well this person will be received by some, but, I really am soooo incredibly excited about their addition to the series that I hope initial preconceptions about them don't tarnish the future they have in the story.

Feel free to speculate and guess as to who this mystery character may be, but my lips are sealed. ;)

Thirdly:

If you haven't seen them already:

Bit bummed out that it doesn't look like we're getting weather anytime soon, but, I guess I'll survive. I'm just excited to know what I have to look forward to over the next year!

In any case: I'll still be around quite a bit the next couple of weeks, I'm just mostly taking a break from writing in order to focus on other things, like breaking out the yoga mat that's been ignored for weeks and looking out the door to remember what the sun looks like. ;)

Really, thank you all for being such dedicated readers, especially those who find the time to thoroughly read and comment. I appreciate every single one so, so much. I wish I could jump through y'all's screens and give you a massive hug!

But I also want to thank any of my silent readers that may be out there, and want to encourage any that have a blog they want me to read (or if you do comment and I haven't read it) to please toss me a link and I'll pop over. The biggest hurdle is always finding the time to get caught up, and with my break imminent I'll have plenty of time to kill, and I am *always* on the look out for new blogs to enjoy.

Again, thank you all, and as always--Happy Simming!

EDIT:

Um.... Yeah. Sorry Alesha, it ain't happenin':

Not sure what dream you just had had, but... Yeahno.

*sniffles*

As this is the first wrap-up I've actually been here for, I'm quite sentimental. This season was the first I really started commenting on (though as I said in the other post, I am now completely caught up!), and it's been such a blast watching you craft such a great season.

Thank you so much for encouraging me to write, teaching me how to take better screenshots, and proving an endless source of entertainment with your great story! And congrats on finishing up the season!

I hope you enjoy your much-deserved break! Everyone needs a break from a good thing so it doesn't get to be too much like work. Nevertheless, I look forward to Season 6!

Oh man, I totally forgot I had this post set to auto-post. Psyche!

Awwwww. *squeeeze* Well, it's been fantastic having you join the crazy world of Sim blogging, Amelia. You've given me renewed hope in the talent still lurking out there in the Sims community waiting to be found, and having you peek out of the shadows was probably one of the coolest surprises I've had happen to me in a while.

Honestly--anything I'm able to do to inspire you to keep going is absolutely my pleasure. No need to thank me. ;)

Part of me really doesn't wanna take a break, but I really should. Since I'm currently unemployed (grumble) this is the closest thing I have to a job, and sometimes I take it about as seriously as one--and I shouldn't. Taking a few steps back is always good to unclog the mind-drain and focus on things that might give me an actual income... Like my artwork... (More grumble.) Heh. ;D

Anyways. Thankyouthankyou again!

Sara March 14, 2011 at 10:44 PM

Aw, that's so sweet of you!

Oh man, I totally identify with the unemployment. If there was a job that would allow me to just play Sims and write all day, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

It ended up being quite the season for one you were vaguely wishing you hadn't committed to at one point. :)

Of course, I might be a bit prejudice since there the Leman family was obvious and handsome young Jerod got to be a villain. Having Sims pop up in someone else's story is always cool.

For some reason, I wasn't thinking that Jerod would be back. Does he get a special prize for the shortest immortal life ever? LOL

It's been a blast, but how you going to do something so dramatic next session?

Raisin Hale March 15, 2011 at 1:27 AM

this has been a good season. i'm glad to hear that amelia and naomi will be moving back to twinbrook... mostly because i miss the rest of the family! sorry i haven't been commenting much, but i've definitely been keeping up. can't wait to see what happens next! and thanks for posting the links to the trailers... had no idea about them and now im super excited! now just to get that hard drive fixed...

Unknown March 15, 2011 at 1:34 AM

Same, Amelia. I don't technically *need* to work (actually, atm I can't because I don't have the right kind of visa), but admittedly I do get bored a lot. Still, if this was a certifiable job... I'd totally jump at it! Heheh.

Yeah, I ended up not liking Bridgeport as much as I thought I would, eh PiB? XD I am glad I did it, though. It gave me time to parse what was going to happen afterwards, certainly. ^^ And I am glad I got to use Jerod for something. He's was a fun Sim to mess around with.

Next Season is... agh. It's going to be insane. That's all I can say. And it's gonna be a pain to keep under 20 episodes. XD

Unknown March 15, 2011 at 1:35 AM

OMG RAISIN!!! Helloooooooo!!! *glomp*

Aww, it's so good to hear from you. :) I'm sorry to hear your harddrive still isn't fixed, but I'm so glad you were still able to keep up with things. We've missed you!

Aren't the trailers awesome?! I'm actually almost a little mad they got leaked so early, because now that's the only thing that's going to be on my mind for the next few months. ;D

Unknown March 15, 2011 at 2:15 AM

Hahaha... I added something to the end of the post that... yeah. Man. I've never seen that wish before, and I NEVER want to see it again.

Alesha must've just woken up from some sort of really bizarre dream...

PiB - Nicarra March 15, 2011 at 2:19 AM

I haven't seen it. But Chrysame must have, I think both Jack and Gwen wanted 10 at some time.

Pretty freaking insane though. I double dare you!

Unknown March 15, 2011 at 11:32 AM

Aaah yeah, I think I remember that. :) Was so long ago... First time I've ever seen it myself, though. But no--no amount of dares could ever make me try to tackle that.

Totally huge tangent, but, I was going back and reading some old stuff to see how things've changed ever just over the last two/three Seasons, and I read the post where Em and Brad went skinny dipping... Aaagh *sniffle*.

Sara March 15, 2011 at 1:51 PM

Aw, that was one of the ones I read yesterday.

Man, Alesha, torture Kaleeko why don't you! I can barely handle 3.

Unknown March 15, 2011 at 2:10 PM

I am really, really bad at operating households of more than 4 Sims. I'm a bit of a control freak with them, so not knowing what all of them are doing all the time drives me insane. The absolute, absolute max I will ever have for a household is 6 Sims, and even then... *twitch*

How I manage to keep doing these scenes with 8+ Sims is beyond me. Thank goodness for the ability to turn off free will, is all I gotta say. ;D

Unknown March 16, 2011 at 1:50 AM

Hahaha.. Brad threw out the exact same wish this morning. YEAH. NOT HAPPENIN.

I keep looking at my feed reader expectantly... This is the hardest part about not writing--now I got too much time to twiddle my thumbs! ;D

Sara March 16, 2011 at 4:38 PM

D'awww!

Well, my post is coming probably today or tomorrow? I need to reshoot some stuff and decide how much I want to include.

I've been looking at my feed too, expecting to see Desperate Sims being updated. It'll be a sad few weeks! ;)

Unknown March 16, 2011 at 4:52 PM

Woot! I look forward to it. :D

Looks like PiB's got one up now, so that'll keep mah belly full for a bit, but it's really bizarre going from writing almost non-stop to hardly at all... So I'm like, "Need... Sim... Story.. Fix...!"

I've got Bio's going up, which are... sort of interesting! ;D But aye, it's gonna be weird until I start writing the story again, that's for sure.

Jen March 17, 2011 at 12:28 AM

Honestly I cannot think of any loose ends, like Kate and Gwen, I think that's a writer/author thing. lol I always wonder if some of my readers are wondering what is happening to the other characters or what has happened but I think it's one of those's 'in-the-back-of-ya-mind' kind things. ;)

Battle scenes were, like, AWESOME! Your never fail in your shots Kaleeko.

And LOL at MY character bio's. ;) I always thought they were a little boring or should I say bland. Thank you btw, I'm flattered.
And I'm sure I'll have to update those after I've started on Part 4 - since I'm going forward into the future a wee bit. Like err, 5 or so years!

I saw those trailers for the new EP but are they real? I was skeptical. The horse for example?
The Generations is obviously going to be similar to University?
I really loved Pets the most.

Have a good break from writing and have fun yoga-ing! Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for the next season.
And a new character? Cool, I say.

Unknown March 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM

It does matter to me a little that I don't leave too much just "hanging", but in the end the only stuff I do that with is the stuff that's really not important. I often leave a lot of stuff out that I know has happened just for the sake of keeping things more concise and on-track.

Nah, I loved your character bios!!! Honestly, having characters with history and personality is the thing I look for most in a story, so it's nice when an author takes the time to write a little bit of extra info on them for knowledge-hogs like me. ^^

Awww, thank you about the screenshots!! As for your question on one of the other posts: you unfortunately can't move a Sim once they're interacting with a bed, so I had to move the bed there and then make it invisible. Fairly simple; the one where he's kissing her forehead was a pain in the arse, though, haha.

The trailers are definitely real. It's speculated that the Pets one looks a little "fakey" just because it's a prelim and not the finished trailer, so the textures and graphics for the pets aren't totally finished, but whatever the case, it's definitely real.

Generations doesn't look like it's going to be a college EP; it's going to more 'expand' each life-stage... Like adding treehouses and playsets for kids, strollers for toddlers (unless the item in the video is just a decor object), pranks/parties for teens, yada yada bing bang. Looks cool to me! (Especially the home videos! Looks like we're getting a video-camera skill, woo!)

I really hope the new character goes over well, but if not--s'okay. I love the kitten caboodle out of them, so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

I am definitely enjoying my break so far! If a little bit fidgetty from now having as much to type, lol. ^^

Thanks, Jen! <3

Unknown March 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM

Ohmygod wallofcomment. Whoops!

Sara March 17, 2011 at 5:50 PM

Home videos will add an entirely new dimension to sims storytelling, I think! That whole expansion pack, really. I'm a little bummed Sophie and Ethan will have missed the new kids stuff!

Unknown March 17, 2011 at 6:47 PM

I knooooww! I'm really, really hoping it comes out in April, though since they haven't even officially announced it yet, that's looking very unlikely. CRY.

For any that are curious--the Kane family tree's been updated (finally), and the Season 6 section has been added to the Archive, so you can see a preview of the new header and an ambiguous tidbit about what's to come. ;D

PiB - Nicarra March 17, 2011 at 6:55 PM

Dear me, Travis has been the busy boy hasn't he? - I peeked at family tree.

I've pondered the idea of the new character that may or may not go over well but it's not getting me anywhere.

Preview of new header - too small, can't see details. [le sigh]

Unknown March 17, 2011 at 7:12 PM

Yeah... I'm pretty sure Travis is done having children--but he's also like 5 days away from becoming a full fledged adult. He sure had Jade pop them out quick. -_-

*snicker* I'd drop hints as to who the character is, but then it'd be really obvious... And you'll see the header full-sized soon enough. :) Just a teaser, atm.

Sara March 17, 2011 at 9:12 PM

Dude, the blurb for season 6 sounds awesome! I really like getting to see more of Brad and Alesha, those two were always my favorites (tied with Amelia and co.) and I'm happy to see them featured in the banner!

Meanwhile, Mr. Travis... sigh. What are we going to do with you?

Unknown March 17, 2011 at 9:20 PM

Whee! :D I'm really excited about getting to write more about Brad and Alesha, too--though it seems as though most characters are going to be featured pretty equally next season.

You can actually even kinda see the new character in the banner, too... Though I intentionally made them very difficult to see, because I'm a Big Bad Tease.

I know, Travis needs a bit of a smack--but I can safely say he'll learn his lesson in due time. XD

Jen March 19, 2011 at 3:35 AM

So, I totally forgot to say....

Congratulations on it being (almost) a year of writing DS!! Yey for you!!
It really is an achievement. :)

The Drifter blogger official anniversary is coming up in May. I've been thinking of doing some sort of anniversary thing but so far I've come up with zip, lol!

Unknown March 19, 2011 at 3:45 AM

Thanks, Jen! :D <3

It'll be a year here in May, as well. Still two months to go, but honestly, while I feel like I haven't been at this long, I also feel like I've been at it forever. It could easily be a year tomorrow and probably feel the same as a year two months from now. But, maybe not--I'll likely be up to Season Seven by then. GAH!

I have some ideas of what I might do as an 'Anniversary' thing, but I dunno. The ideas I do have would require a lot of effort that, despite how much I love you guys, may be a bit lost on just 10 or so dedicated readers. but... who knows. XD I love my sims enough to do just about anything with them, these days.
