Some call him ruthless. Others call him Father. Jebidiah Kane is a man with two faces: one of unquenchable greed for money and power, and another that cares for nothing but the safety and security of his family.

Jebidiah Kane surfaced in world of crime as a hacker that went by the code name "Blackjack", but his days of computer mastery were left behind when he began work as an underground thief in Riverview County. He quickly rose to the top, only to be brought crashing back down when he was framed for murder and was forced to take his family on the run to spare himself the sentence of life in prison.

Though he tried to give up a life of crime at behest of his wife--living as a two-bit Private Investigator when they first arrived in their new home of Twinbrook--he could not be persuaded to live a common life for very long. With his eyes on all seats of power within their new town, he quickly usurped the Rackets as the dominating family of Twinbrook's criminal rings, before extending his greedy fingers into both the pockets of the Police Department and the Government. There, now, he sits with overarching influence in all things, promoting his own agenda and keeping the eyes of the law away from his band of cronies.

"Besides, you know this isn't about the money. The Strummer job wasn't, either. Not for us, anyways. You and I... we're different, from the rest," Jebidiah said as he pulled the car to a stop. "Look inside yourself, and listen to how you feel. For once, you're excited, again... You should feel lucky I'm giving you this opportunity."

-- Jebidiah Kane to Tana Larson
"Jebidiah's Women"

And yet, his greed for ultimate power cost him dearly. The love of his family has waxed and waned many times, despite his efforts to prove that everything he does is to guarantee their safety--especially the safety of his wife, who has her own fears from the law as well--but it is never quite enough.

Underneath it all, Jebidiah Kane is a very strong-willed, determined man. Though there are things that can strike his temper, he often shows an impeccable amount of restraint, keeping a cool, composed demeanor befitting his title of Emperor of Evil. For someone considered "evil" he's able to show a surprising amount of mercy, but he's willing to destroy anything, or anyone, that gets in his way--and he's not afraid to hurt the inconsequential people around him to get what he desires.

Still, despite the maliciousness and the buckets of lies he offers endlessly, Jebidiah Kane is still a man of integrity. He may have weaknesses and mortal flaws, but the love he extends to every member of his family still remains untainted by what he does on the dark back alleys of Twinbrook; one can only hope that someday, somehow, his family learns to accept his ways and trust the man behind the glasses.

Although Jebidiah spends most of the time plotting world domination, when he's not sporting the Red Glow of Doom he can be found doting over his grandchildren, hacking into Simbook accounts to write crude messages on random people's walls, or at the Martial Arts Studio, where he still occasionally teaches classes to those who want to learn how to round-house kick like him.

Husband of Meredith Kane
Father of Travis, Bradley, and Amelia

Jebediah Kane, evil mastermind, ruthless thief, vampire killer.... grandfather? I love it. I just can't picture him being that stereotypical sweet grandpa who gives you McDonalds certificates for Christmas and pats you on the head whilst calling you pumpkin.

Also, electronica music? Really?

Doting granddad who occasionally does the red glow of evil

Wait, did someone say Margo is a coward? Is that gonna freak the poor baby out or what?

Great choice of a classic song and the lyrics

"No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be "

Do scream Jeb.

Family must learn to trust the man behind the glasses - why does my mind suddenly flash to Heroes and the man with the Horn-Rimmed Glasses? LOL

LOL--no, he definitely wouldn't be that kind of grandpa. Jeb's not a warm-fuzzies kinda guy... But he is the kind of grandfather that'd buy his grandbaby a porsche for her birthday and teach her to drive it. ;D And he's probably going to take great interest in making sure they're raised to his... ideals. XD

Hahaha--I know, Electronica isn't the best fit, but when he was born I thought it would be. Still, the only other I'd really see him interested in is Classical... I could definitely picture him going to the theatre to watch his grandchild's recital or something.

Yeah, the song fits remarkably. :) One of my favorite songs, too. He's even got blue eyes!

And yes, I'm glad you caught the Heroes reference! I took a lot of inspiration of how I developed Jeb over time from HRG. HRG is like, the coolest dad ever. Totally ruthless, but would go to hell and back for his daughter.

Oh and yeah--Margo is probably not going to love sitting on Granddaddy's lap very much. XD She's not the only grandkid though, luckily!

Sara March 19, 2011 at 5:46 PM

I DEFINITELY get the HRG vibe from him, but I didn't know that was on purpose (and it's been years since Heroes was on, so I've kind of forgotten).

He's a lot more evil-minded than HRG, though, as I can't really see Noah Bennett amassing an empire of evil XD But I definitely see the protectiveness and good intentions.

Poor Margo, grandpa's scary!

I also think it's interesting you changed him to Family Oriented over time.

It wasn't necessarily at purpose on first, but I think I was subconciously channeling HRG through Jeb because I was watching Heroes for the first time I when I started this blog. ^^ But you're right, Noah was more of a 'pawn' of the evil bad guys--at least in the beginning--whereas Jeb is the top dog behind it all.

Hehehe, we'll have to see how Margo deals with Jeb when she's a toddler. Since toddlers aren't supposed to be cowards, I wonder if she'll even try to run away. *ponders*

When I picked Inappropriate for him, it was mostly just to see what it was like; and it gave some interesting stuff to write about in the beginning, but he almost never, ever uses that trait's socials anymore, or wishes, or anything... Whereas now, I write about him as a caring most about his family. It made sense to change. ;D

I agree, HRG was always much more... a victim of circumstance, I suppose. He was just out to protect Claire, not to gain power (or if he did, it was to become powerful enough to protect her, etc). I was a huge Heroes fan and was seriously bummed when it got canceled!

That's cool though, I like that you paid attention to how he was changing. (Yet another perk of not being a legacy...)

Swore I commented back earlier! HRM!

But yeah--Jeb's much more diabolical and greedy than HRG, but they're both pretty ruthless. Noah did some pretty messed up stuff to protect his daughter.

Oh, so I showed PiB since we're blabbing away in chat as usual, but I wanted to share this with you guys:

THEY SO CUUUUTTEE!

Not bad age up. Not bad at all.

I personally suspect a bit of tweaking but ... LOL

We are just catching up with Heroes - nearly done season 3 now. HRG is interesting, what he will do to protect his family is intense.

Sara March 20, 2011 at 1:39 PM

D'awww they're cute! But this just means they're getting closer to not being heeeere ;(

Unknown March 20, 2011 at 3:51 PM

Don't worry, they still have 100+ game days left to live! ;D Pretty sure Farah lasted something like 200 days as an Elder before I finally let her go, too. ^^

Sara March 20, 2011 at 4:52 PM

Baha, nice.

I recently upped the life stage lengths because Sophie and Ethan kept getting too close to aging up >.> So now I'm playing with like... life expectancies of 180 days.

Unknown March 20, 2011 at 4:59 PM

Awesome! That's how long I had mine until about the time Jeb was a child, then I took the splurge and downloaded SLAM. Sometimes I do get impatient for the next stage to come (like I reaaally want Margo to be a child!) I love having more time to do stuff with my kids before they grow up!

That and I really wanna go as slow as possible in order to try to get at least Generations before my Sims are too old to use the new shtuff! But I'll be really bummed if I don't have kids when Unleashed comes out. :'(

'Hacking into Simbook accounts to write crude messages on random people's walls' LOL!! Jeb you don't do you? You are evil! ;)

I've always liked Jeb. He kicks ass but can turn into a softy in the blink of an eye for his family. Well, maybe for Meredith and Amelia. lol

Unknown March 22, 2011 at 11:59 AM

Haha! Actually, you're totally right. Until recently, Jeb actually had a very poor relationship with the boys. Barely friends with Travis, and in the red with Brad. I guess he always thought that they could look after themselves, so he never worried for them much.

Though, Brad and Jeb never ever had a good relationship. Brad didn't want to turn into him, then he avoided him because he was, and then he married Alesha, who *hates* Jeb. They have been doing a bit better, lately. I think I at least got them out of the red. XD
